Welcome to All Sanghar Handicaps’ Association (ASHA) Established in 1985 A Self-Help Organization for People with Disabilities in Southern Pakistan Persons with disabilities in Pakistan face barriers and discrimination in all aspects of their lives. This is due to a number of factors, including the conservative nature of society, the high illiteracy rate, the lack of implementation of laws and policies that protect the rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the fact that Pakistan is a developing country. In 1985, a group of young people with disabilities in the rural and remote areas of southern Pakistan came together to form ASHA. The goal of ASHA is to provide support and advocacy for Persons with Disabilities in the region. Initially, ASHA operated like a self-help group with small budgets. The members of ASHA meet regularly to share experiences, discuss challenges, and develop strategies for overcoming them. As ASHA grew, it began to provide a variety of services to Persons with Disabilities, including:
Education and training: ASHA provides educational and training programs for Persons with Disabilities so that they can develop the skills they need to participate fully in society.
Disability awareness: ASHA conducts disability awareness programs for the general public, to help break down stereotypes and promote understanding of the challenges faced by Persons with Disabilities.
Advocacy: ASHA advocates for the rights of Persons with disabilities.
